Misnomer

Sophie has an ulcer in her eye. It's healing up pretty well but in the mean time she gets much-loved ointment in her eye (three kinds!) three times a day.

When we were at the vet, the tech asked if we have an "Elizabethan collar" (at right). I said, "You mean the cone?" (below) Quite a misnomer. Sophie hates, hates, hates it.

those collars are horrible
our dog would run into things all the time as she didn't know where the side of her head was anymore

and you don't even wanna hear about our rabbit that had to wear one for weeks on end....

In our household, they are known as the "collar of shame."

Horrid things, but necessary evil.

FYI - while shopping for a Christmas present for Izzy I noticed clear "cones" at Petsmart, that might help her see better and not run into things...

A co-worker was talking to a vet about the cone. She, the vet, said that they're sometimes also known as party hats. That's just sick.
