Czech-Spanish Eyes

"Spanish Eyes," U2, came up on my iPod this morning. The song always reminds me of a trip to Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).

I was on a class trip headed east from Ingolstadt (north of Munich) to the border, where we had to hand over our passports, and on for a horribly long, slow drive to Prague. Before we left I heard an I'm-not-sure-if-it's-true story that quite a few Czech villages had pretty much been abandoned during the war and stayed that way. It certainly looked like some of the villages were uninhabited. The places looked incredibly sad. Sadder still if they were inhabited.
