Third day in a row of temperatures in the 90s and humid. Good times, good times. Today I finally got a few flowers in on the front steps and deck. I'm hoping that the storm we're supposed to get tonight doesn't wreck them. They are at that shriveled-up infant stage. A little in shock. In a couple of days they'll look smashing.I'm being more adventurous mixing plants this year. I adored all of the flower boxes and plantings in Switzerland last year. It might not be Switzerland here but I'm going to give it my best shot in the pot and box realms.
Last year, due to the Switzerland trip in mid June, I didn't put out any plants in May -- they'd die while I was away. By the time I returned just about everything at the greenhouse was looking really haggard and leggy. I'm going to make up for that lost year this summer.
Here's Sophie at the front door, listening to the thunder and waiting for me to come inside.

Say, I broke down and bought some of those plants I wanted to dig up and take home when we were out walking Sophzilla and the Hobbster.

Sophie is so cute! I think you should bring her to work and let her run around the office! I'm sure your co-workers would enjoy it...she could be the new and improved badger.
I wish we could bring our pups to the office. Think how much happier the place would be with everyone's blood pressure lower ...
One of the guys I work with brings his dog to the office. She's a blonde lab with some kind of medical problem. He takes her to the vet then brings her to work. She roams around making people smile. She's the most polite dog I've ever met.
Another coworker brought her dog and he was not polite. I don't like those butt probes. He's a big, powerful dog.
I guess dogs are like people in that some are nice to know and others are not. Sophie is in the nice-to-know category.
Thanks for the vote for Sophie! She does tend to lick a lot and jump up. But, as she is on the small side, it's not too bad. Unless you're under two feet tall.
