We used to play lawn jarts when I was little. We didn't know any better. They're like darts with a very heavy and sharp end. They could really brain you if aimed at the head. Now they're banned in the U.S.
It's interesting that the gov can ban lawn darts, but can't ban guns. They banned three-wheeled ATVs, but motorcycles are just fine. I realize the difference is that lawn dart manufacturers didn't have a powerful lobby or an ambiguous constitutional amendment on their side, but it's a funny contrast.
I'd never thought about it that way. There are also the seat belt rules. The gun lobby also has those really powerful (?) and disturbing photos of Charleton Heston waving a rifle in the air.

Oh yeah - we ADORED lawn darts. We didn't actually own any. Only got to play when at some relative or other's house.
My parents wouldn't let me have a skateboard, either (??). They were convinced that would end in disaster, as well.
Pooor me. ;-)
