Smart talk from the man

'What's in it for me' is not good for anyone.
--Barack Obama
Obama was on Meet the Press yesterday. Every time Tom Brokaw referred to him as President-elect Obama I smiled.

Quote of the day

Saw this on the Mutts Web site. So true, so true!

It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.

Quote machine

I love this quote from Craig Newmark, founder of the wildly popular Craigslist, the online classifieds site.
The only difference between a little hobby and what we have now is that we follow through.

Cool quote

Today I heard that Red Auerbach died. He was the president of the Boston Celtics basketball team. Earlier he was the coach. Normally I wouldn't record that here. I'm not a basketball fan. However, one of the people interviewed about him noted this quote that Auerbach used in reference to coaching:
It's not what you say, it's what they hear.
I just love that. True on many levels.

I don't get it but it's funny

I discovered the source of one of my favorites quotes last week. Unfortunately it was because of the death of the quoter, former Texas governor, Ann Richards. She used the quote on "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me," the news quiz on NPR, on which she was a guest. At the end of her spot, after the host thanked her for playing the "Not my job" game, she said:
I haven't had this much fun since pigs ate my brother.
I have no idea what that means but I love it.
